Bar Casa Plácido

In 1988 Luís Sánchez García took over Bodega Alfonso (f. 1930) across the street from his iconic family-run Bar Las Teresas (1870). Renaming it Casa Plácido after his father it is now almost an extension of its big sister bar, serving pretty much the same menu.

There’s a small bar inside as well as the few tables out in the pedestrianised street. I don’t know why I’ve never put up a review before now because I’ve been coming here for years – it’s probably because I kind of think of both as being the same bar. In any case, I think Casa Plácido deserves a mention of its own because it’s super charming in its own way.

You can get tapas inside the bar and raciones (large plates) out on the terraza. I personally prefer the inside tables to avoid being jostled by the hordes of tourists passing by, and also because I prefer ordering tapas.
